Farmers Telephone Cooperative, Inc (FTC) has selected the Vaonet IMPRS network management system to monitor their growing network.

Farmers Telephone Cooperative, Inc (FTC) has selected the Vaonet IMPRS network management system to monitor their growing network. FTC is the 3rd largest telephone cooperative in the nation with approximately 56,000 access lines within a coverage area of nearly 3,000 square miles. Their network monitoring challenge is complex because it encompasses both TDM and IP voice, data and video network elements in multiple, and often remote, locations. FTC’s goal was to find one reliable and cost effective management platform to securely monitor every element in their network.

Gene Failmezger, FTC’s ISP/IP Video Engineer says, “We are very committed to growth but we will not sacrifice the reliability of our service to our customers. We needed a network infrastructure partner who could grow with us as we expand our IP offerings but who could also seamlessly manage our legacy network. Vaonet IMPRS delivers management efficiency as a single source for monitoring all of our equipment at all of our diverse locations. In addition, Vaonet’s flexible and cost effective expansion capabilities ensure that we won’t outgrow the system as we add customers and continue to expand our offerings.”

The Vaonet IMPRS customized notification options played an important role in FTC’s decision to enable their network with Vaonet. Since FTC operates equipment in multiple locations spread over 6 counties, it is very important to service continuity that network notices immediately reach the right team of people in the most convenient way. Vaonet IMPRS offers the capability to customize detailed notifications by type, location and group as well as by preferred means of delivery including text, email and voice. Therefore 24 hours a day – 7 days a week, response personnel get the details they need to diagnose any issues and determine the most efficient response. Often, the problem can be corrected remotely through secure remote access included in the Vaonet IMPRS.

Failmezger says, “When FTC personnel get immediate notice via their choice of text, email or voice notification, we optimize our efficiency of response. Our maintenance technicians like the convenience Vaonet offers. Our management team appreciates the security and cost efficiency. With Vaonet’s detailed notification and secure access we can often clear issues remotely saving the expense and delay of a 'truck roll' for onsite repair.”

Don Carmody, chief technical officer at Vaonet says, “We are very pleased to provide FTC’s network monitoring solution. We look forward to supporting Farmer’s with secure and reliable network management as they continue to expand their services and network.”

Vaonet is the leading provider of end-to-end network management solutions for small and mid-size carriers and enterprises. The company’s founders are telecommunications veterans who understand the ever-changing requirements for managing complex networks and recognized the growing need for single source network management. The Vaonet IMPRS product suite was developed as a secure and cost efficient way to monitor multi-vendor networks while enabling carriers to continue to expand locations and services. Vaonet customers receive the benefits of a fully staffed network operations center without the cost.

Farmers Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (FTC) founded in 1951, is a local, multi-faceted telecommunications company headquartered in Kingstree, SC.
