News Image Supporting Quotes

  • Like many IT organizations, we are faced with delivering increased SLAs and supporting new services in our network infrastructure with fewer people and dollars, said Mark Perlstein, president of IT Outsourcing, CIBER. CAs integrated network fault, performance and configuration management solution reduces the time it takes to find and fix problems due to more granular, real-time analysis and reporting. We can proactively manage network service performance and utilization to avoid user-impacting degradations or outages. When problems do occur, we can quickly resolve them with the root cause analysis to focus on the origin of the problem. The level of insight the CA Network Management solution provides has allowed us to move from reactive firefighting to proactive, strategic IT management that maximizes our network availability.
  • Enterprises, service providers and government agencies are all being challenged with critical service performance requirements in the face of ever more complex infrastructures and more frequent change, said Dennis Drogseth, vice president, Enterprise Management Associates. While best-of-breed-tools serve a purpose, IT organizations and network managers will be most successful when they can evolve beyond siloed toolsets toward more modular, cohesive and functionally integrated solution sets. By bringing enhanced support for CMDB systems, application performance, and network configuration management into the network management arena, CA is taking a significant step forward in this direction.
  • The CA Network Management solution is designed to help IT support the business with improved network and service availability at a lower cost, said Roger Pilc, corporate senior vice president and general manager of CAs Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit. The solutions new capabilities and integrations with other CA solutions further reduce the administrative overhead associated with disparate applications managing the same set of network assets and services.

CA eHealth Network Performance Manager r6.1

--

CA eHealth NPM r6.1 improves network service availability across IT infrastructure by proactively pinpointing service degradations to enable corrective action before users and business processes are affected. New enhancements to the solution include:

-- Live reporting and monitoring features, including historical and live trending on a single screen, analysis down to 30-second intervals, and a time-over-threshold (TOT) availability rule to reduce false positives during planned and transient conditions. These features move users further from reactive to proactive network management by alerting them of systemic performance issues before users and business processes are adversely affected.

-- New traffic monitoring, application usage and reporting features, including an embedded NetFlow V9 collector, pre-defined reports, and custom report-building capabilities. These features allow customers to identify application traffic on the network and who is using those applications. The result is faster mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) network issues based on application usage, which reduces the business impact of poorly performing networks.

CA SPECTRUM Network Fault Manager r9.0

--

CA SPECTRUM NFM r9.0 helps IT organizations avoid the risk and cost of unreliable network operations by providing best-in-class, integrated network service, fault and configuration management. The enhanced version includes several new network change and configuration management features that provide the ability to capture and store configurations, automate tasks, detect and audit changes, maintain policy compliance, and produce activity reports that enable faster MTTR and reduce business impact. Other enhancements to the solution include:

--

A new Network Configuration Manager Extension Toolkit allows customers to self-certify any network device for configuration management and new capabilities for integrated network configuration management.

--

A new module to integrate event information from a wider range of sources. This will help to enrich events and alarms with external data often located in multiple databases and to forward alarm information to multiple sources.

--

Both CA eHealth NPM r6.1 and CA SPECTRUM NFM r9.0 include several new, common features that provide continuous time-to-value:

-- CA eHealth NPM and CA SPECTRUM NFM are designed to support IPv6. This functionality is important to many government agencies, service providers and large enterprises.

-- Continued investment in adding to and expanding the breadth of device certifications, which reduces the amount of time and money required to deploy new network devices by eliminating manual procedures.

-- An enriched, consistent Web-based "OneClick" user interface that provides greater efficiencies for network administrators, managers and operators.
