Making its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 9, 2012, the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT is already catching the attention of car enthusiasts everywhere.
Loaded with many new features, the interior and exterior design of the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT stay true to the traditional luxurious Bentley look, but the performance changes set it apart from past models.
Equipped with a new 4.0 liter V8 engine that delivers 660 Newton meters of torque at a 1700 rpm engine speed, the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT has a top speed of 188 miles per hour, enabling it to travel from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds. The New 2013 Bentley Continental GT also includes continuous all-wheel drive and a new 8-speed transmission that contributes 6% to the overall 40% efficiency gain with faster and smoother gear changes. The upgraded performance also includes an EPA estimated fuel consumption of 15 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Modeling a contemporary, luxurious, sporty design, the interior of the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT is crafted with a careful mix of wood, leather, and knurled metal. Open stowage is created with the symmetrical fascia. The sportiness of the interior is emphasized with a shorter center console, which also creates additional space in the back seat. The veneer is Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus, and the hide interior is offered in monotone shades of Beluga, Newmarket Tan, Porpoise, and Imperial Blue.
The exterior of the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT has an elegant, muscular form, staying true to the traditional style of the Bentley, while creating a modern look. It sports LED lights in the front and rear, a black mesh grille with bright chrome, a three-segment front bumper, figure-of-eight exhaust tailpipes, 20" 5-spoke alloy wheels, and a red enamel winged 'B' badge on the center of the bonnet, boot, and wheels.
As standard, the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT includes an infotainment system with an eight channel, eight speaker system and 15GB of music storage, which is compatible with an iPod, MP3 player, SD card, or the standard six-disc CD changer. Live traffic data, internet searches, and satellite landscape imagery are provided via the touch-screen navigation system. Also, tire pressure monitoring and phone contact access is provided even with the vehicle in motion.
When asked about what customers should expect from the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, Wolfgang Dürheimer, responded:
"With the new 4.0 liter V8 engine we are widening the appeal of the latest generation of Continentals, introducing a completely new driving experience. The new engine will have all the exhilarating power, drama and performance you would expect from a V8 engine sporting the famous Bentley wings, effortlessly delivered with our characteristic ‘wave of torque’. This is complemented by innovative power train technology that delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and emissions."
Bentley has yet to announce the actual price of the New 2013 Bentley Continental GT; however, Bentley executives have said that they will start at 10-15 percent less than the current W12's. Customers looking to purchase one should expect to spend slightly less than $200,000, most likely $170,000-$175,000.
