On Jan. 20, 2009, Kelly Fink of Bowen Family Homes was named Marketing Director of the Year at The Nationals℠ award ceremony held during the National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) annual International Builders' Show (IBS). The Nationals℠ is the nation's largest competition for new-home sales and marketing professionals and communities. It pays tribute to superior new-home sales and marketing achievements by individual sales and marketing professionals, homebuilders and associates, and sales and marketing councils. This awards competition is presented annually by the National Sales and Marketing Council (NSMC) along with co-sponsors Whirlpool Appliances, Gladiator Garage Works and KitchenAid. This year's award ceremony was held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
Fink, the Regional Marketing and Internet Director for Bowen Family Homes, was one of five people to be nominated for Marketing Director of the Year. Entrants for this award must be responsible for developing and implementing overall sales and marketing policy, including market research, product development, merchandising, advertising and sales productivity for a builder. Finalists participate in a three-day judging process that includes evaluation by some of the industry's finest marketing professionals, representing a wide range of disciplines and geographic cross sections. Architects and builders join marketing colleagues in the judging panels along with market-research consultants, trade publishers and senior editors.
In addition to being named Marketing Director of the Year, Fink also had the opportunity to speak at IBS on Jan. 21, 2009 during a class entitled Hold 'Em, Fold 'Em or Walk Away - Winning Web Marketing Strategies. Fink, along with Meredith Oliver of Meredith Communications, taught attendees how to integrate their Web site, search engine marketing, email marketing, eLead follow-up and onsite sales process into one powerful strategy that will result in more sales. On February 26, 2009 the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) is offering those that were not able to attend IBS a recap of the Internet marketing strategies shared by Fink and Oliver, as well as several other Internet related classes on blogging, social media and search engine optimization all in one seminar. An active member of the real estate industry since 1997, Fink has worked for Bowen Family Homes since 2003 when she started as Marketing Manager. Fink quickly became one of the best marketing directors in the home building industry and in 2004, she was named Marketing Director of the Year at the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association's 24th annual Professionalism Awards. In 2006, Fink achieved her Member, Institute of Residential Marketing (MIRM) designation. The MIRM is the most prestigious designation offered by the Institute of Residential Marketing and is the top level of achievement for professionals in new home marketing. In 2007, Fink was named the Marketing Director of the Year for a second time by the Greater Atlanta HBA and in March of 2007 earned her Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designation. She is also on the 2009 Atlanta SMC Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Education Committee.
