Teaneck, N.J. (PRWEB) June 23, 2012

Steven Benvenisti, a New Jersey personal injury lawyer with the law firm of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., who has used his own personal experience to deliver a powerful anti-drunk driving message to audiences across the country, has been named to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) National Board of Directors.

On June 21, MADD announced Benvenisti’s election to the National Board along with Brad Bulla of Tennessee, Frank Magourilos of New Mexico, Mahesh Shetty of Texas and Monica Vandehei of Connecticut.

According to MADD, the diverse group “brings a range of experience, including grassroots activism, underage drinking prevention, financial expertise and much more.”

“We are looking forward to the input and expertise of these individuals, who each provide a unique and valuable perspective, as MADD continues its efforts to save lives by working to eliminate drunk driving, and to serve the victims of this violent crime — reaching an average of one victim every eight minutes,” said Robert Strassburger, MADD’s Chairman of the Board.

Benvenisti has received numerous accolades for his efforts to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking through his program, “The Most Significant Case of My Entire Career,” including special recognition by the New Jersey General Assembly and U.S. Congress.

The New Jersey personal injury attorney presents the program to schools, national and medical rehabilitation associations and legal and law enforcement organizations throughout the country, waiving all honorariums in favor of the school or organization donating to MADD.

In the program, Benvenisti describes being struck by a habitual drunk driver while he was walking on a spring break trip in Florida in 1989. The horrific accident crushed his legs and placed him into a coma for 10 days. He spent six months in the hospital, enduring 15 surgeries and intense rehabilitation.

After the crash, Benvenisti turned to MADD and found victim advocates in Florida and New Jersey who helped him and his family deal with the challenges from the crash. He fully recovered, went on to graduate, magna cum laude, from The College of New Jersey and earn his law degree from the University of Bridgeport School of Law in 1993.

Today, Benvenisti is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a civil trial attorney and a partner in the New Jersey personal injury firm of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon, P.C., where he often represents drunk driving accident victims and their families in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits against drunk drivers and those who served them.

“My story, I’ve found, really grabs the audience’s attention, especially young people. It’s not just statistics. It’s the story of a real person, and they can relate to it,” Benvenisti said. “When I have their complete attention, it gives me the chance to make them promise right then and there that they will never drink and drive – even after having even one drink.”
