StrutPatent.com announces the release their latest report on new patents issued by the USPTO on December 13, 2011. The report identifies top trends and recipients of U.S. patents, including which assignees are securing the most patents and which patent categories are experiencing increased activity.

New patent search portal StrutPatent.com has released their latest report on new patents issued by the USPTO. The information below identifies the top recipients of patents issued on December 13, 2011 followed by summary of how the findings compare to the December 6 patent report.

Total Patents Issued: 5,251

Top 10 Categories (categories with the most new patents issued):

  •     Electricity - Electric Communication Technique (575/32)
  •     Electricity - Basic Electric Elements (420/24)
  •     Haman Necessities - Medical of Veterinary Sciences; Hygiene (413/12)
  •     Physics - Measuring; Testing (251/38)
  •     Physics - Information Storage (121)
  •     Human Necessities - Agriculture; Forestry; Animal Husbandry; Hunting; Trapping; Fishing (107)

This week there were slightly more patents issued with a total of just 5 more than last week. The top five categories are all the same however the second half of the list is completely different than last week including two new categories, Mechanical Engineering; Lighting; Heating; Weapons; Blasting and Electricity - Generation, Conversion or Distribution of Electric Power.

The top inventors saw significantly higher numbers. The top five inventors all had more patents issued than last week's top two inventors, William H. Eby and Kia Silverbrook, who were the only two inventors from last week to make it on the list this week. Seven of ten assignees from last week are again in the top ten, however no one is in the same spot as the week before.
