Overall, the number of patents this week was only 13 fewer than the total number of patents issued on February 21, 2012. However, there were a few significant changes worth noting. Most noteworthy is the absence of Kia Silverbrook on the list of top 10 inventors. Robert J. Dupont, Sr. takes that honor after Silverbrook held it for weeks on end.

But Physics - Computing; Calculating; Counting maintained its top spot on the list of top 10 categories as did International Business Machines Corporation for the list of assignees. However, International Business Machines Corporation saw a considerable drop in the number of patents received compared to last week. Many corporations changed up there placement, but there was only one new assignee to make the list this week was Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. in spot number nine. The categories list remained largely unchanged with the exception of two new categories, Chemistry; Metallurgy - Organic Chemistry and Performing Operations; Transporting - Vehicles In General.
