This week the United States Patent and Trade Office issued more patents than any other week in 2012. The total is well over the number of patents issued on March 13, 2012 which is one of the lowest on record for the year. The large increase was very apparent in the assignees top 10 list where International Business Machines Corporation again took the top spot, but crushed it's total from last week by more than 300 patents. There were some new corporations to make the list including Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

This week Karl Phillip Schlosstein topped the list of top 10 inventors. However, Kia Silverbrook it notably back on the list in the second spot followed by Paul Lapstun who has collaborated with Silverbrook. Given that there were more than 1000 Physics - Computing; Calculating; Counting patents issued in the category, there's a good chance these were some of the patents they secured.
