New York, NY (PRWEB) December 19, 2012
BLB issued their top spots to celebrate the end of the Mayan calendar this week as Dec. 21 draws near and many venues plan parties that are expected to go above and beyond what is considered the norm in the New York nightlife scene.
Some consider the end of the Mayan calendar on Dec. 21, 2012 to be the end of the world and New Yorkers are taking advantage of the impending doomsday as an excuse to party. Celebrity and special themed parties are set to take place across the world and New York, a city that seems to know no limits when it comes to nightlife, will be hosting many “ultimate last calls” across the city.
BLB is excited to see so many venues taking advantage of the “end of the world” to host doomsday parties. Several themed parties - Nightmare (Before Christmas): The Experiment at Suffolk Bar and a haunted house at Times Scare – top BLB's list of hot parties while the Bowery Hotel hosts an apocalypse-inspired arts show party and the Bell House offers up a place to “laugh in the face of doom” and an alternative to the clubs. If you are looking for a place to celebrate and grab a bite to eat BLB suggests checking out Beaumarchais, a French bistro in the Meatpacking District, which will be decorated in a Mayan theme and offering up champagne and a DJ to party the night away, as well as a “Survival Brunch” the next day for those that have survived the end of the world.
The Mayan calendar consists of several cycles and is a system of calendars that dates back to at least the 5th century BCE. Some people believe that the end of this latest cycle will bring an apocalypse that signals the end of the world. As one of NYC's hottest areas, the Meatpacking District is expected to see several large parties that will draw celebrities for end of the world parties as well. The district became a go-to locale after a revival began in the late 1990s. Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm of EMM Group led the nightlife surge in the area with the opening of Tenjune in 2006.
The end of the Mayan calendar has presented New Yorkers with yet another excuse to party and many venues in the city will be offering “end of the world” parties, themed around the impending apocalypse. New York City alone will be offering up dozens of choices for full-blown parties to more intimate options for dinner, theatre and comedy clubs.
