The claim made was for allegedly failing to deliver the child at issue in a timely manner, resulting in serious birth injuries.

ROMELLE MALONEY, M.D., PATRICIA DEVINE, M.D. and SOUND SHORE MEDICAL CENTER. It was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Bronx and was assigned to The Honorable Stanley Green. Its case number was 350174/08.

According to documents filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, the case centered on a child who was born on January 24, 2006 at the Sound Shore Medical Center. The child endured a difficult delivery that involved an umbilical cord prolapse and a nuchal cord. The monitoring of the vital signs of the mother and the infant for several hours revealed an indication of these problems, and the mother was also complaining of a headache so severe that her vision became blurred.
