Colorado State University Adds Online M.S. and Ph.D. to Systems Engineering Offerings

In response to industry demand, Colorado State University has added and an online Systems Engineering Master of Science and Ph.D. in addition to its popular Master of Engineering. As some of the only online graduate degrees in this field, these programs have been shaped by input from industry and government leaders, preparing students to meet industry demands with immediately applicable knowledge. These degrees cover critical topics such as risk analysis, project management, support systems, and engineering processes.

“Graduates of the master’s degree programs will be capable of designing and managing complex multidisciplinary engineering systems, with a rigorous systems engineering approach," said Dr. Ronald Sega.

In response to industry demand, Colorado State University has added and an online Systems Engineering Master of Science and Ph.D. in addition to its popular Master of Engineering.

As some of the only online graduate degrees in this field, these programs have been shaped by input from industry and government leaders, preparing students to meet industry demands with immediately applicable knowledge. These degrees cover critical topics such as risk analysis, project management, support systems, and engineering processes.

“Graduates of the master’s degree programs will be capable of designing and managing complex multidisciplinary engineering systems, with a rigorous systems engineering approach,” Dr. Ronald Sega, Woodward professor of systems engineering and one of the leaders in creating these programs explained. “The research component of the thesis-based M.S. and Ph.D. programs inherently equips students with cutting-edge skills in specific focus areas, preparing them for future career opportunities.”

Dr. Peter Young, professor of electrical and computer engineering, program coordinator for systems engineering, and another chief creator of the programs added, “The Ph.D. prepares students to become future leaders in systems engineering and energy systems. As Ph.D.-level scientists in both academia and industry, students will produce significant contributions in terms of original research to the field throughout their coursework, driving advancements and leading to improvements in energy efficiency, environmental impact, job creation, and economic growth.”

CSU is a leader in providing the next generation of energy/systems experts to the public and private sector, and the new Systems Engineering M.S. and Ph.D. puts Colorado at the forefront of an area which is of vital importance nationally and worldwide.

These degrees join the ranks of other CSU College of Engineering online programs that U.S. News and World Report has collectively ranked as sixth in the nation for student services and technology this year, tenth for faculty credentials and training, and fifth for admissions selectivity.
