Dining experience feedback that is both personalized and measured has already helped chefs, restauranteurs, and their PR firms work with dish analysis like never before.

Forkly, the free and popular iPhone app for global food and drink lovers, continues to stay ahead of the food app pack with the new Forkly DishScore, which allows users to narrow down on the city’s hottest dishes at a glance.
Current ratings within the Forkly app range from “Loved it” to “Not for me,” with an emphasis on personal taste. The new Forkly DishScore makes for a deeper analysis of the current system, as the numerical 1-10 scores show the popularity of dishes at any given location. The final score is determined by a variety of sources including the number of dish or drink “tastes” and “wants” submitted by users.
While more data-driven, this social menu model is comparable to good old-fashioned word-of-mouth recommendations from friends and family: you must try this dish at that restaurant. In the same way, Forkly users can browse dish scores, see whom has recommended what, and decide on a dish and restaurant accordingly.
Forkly co-founder Brady Becker says: “Dining experience feedback that is both personalized and measured has already helped chefs, restauranteurs, and their PR firms work with dish analysis like never before. We’re excited that the Forkly DishScore will significantly improve dining experiences and allow users to hone in on dishes and drinks they’ll love.”
For those in the business, this attention to feedback is invaluable. Chefs from around the world, like Alessandro Ricciardi in Florence, Italy, Allison Sosna in Washington, DC, and Sondra Bernstein in Sonoma, CA, use Forkly for market research, sharing their own creations, and working with users’ conversations.
Bernstein, the proprietor of three northern Californian restaurants with dishes rated in the 7-10 range says, “With all of the apps that are available, Forkly is my go-to Food App to let our friends see what our new menu items are each week. The growing community and the interactions around our dishes and drinks make for a powerful marketing tool that continues to get better and better.”
Major additions to Forkly 2.2 include support for iOS 6 and the new iPhone 5, enhanced search abilities, and an updated design for rating dishes, so users can shoot food photos first and rate later. With the Forkly app for Android and back-end tools for restaurants around the corner, consumers and industry members eagerly anticipate Forkly’s next moves. For now, Becker says, it’s “back to work.”
