Own, the first social point of sale, announced today that it has hired technology and finance veteran Alicia Policinski as its chief operating officer to support its U.S. and global expansion throughout Australia, Mexico, and Canada. The company appointed four software and iPhone developers to its team to drive innovation and platform development. The growth follows last month’s $1.2 million in seed funding.

Its platform is unlike any other because it tracks customer-buying and menu-item performance. Merchants can automate and optimize everything from employee scheduling and payroll, to user-specific deals and incentives.

Policinski joins Own, a San Francisco-based company, to provide the leadership and passion to support growing demand for Own’s social point of sale platform, domestically and abroad. Most recently, Policinski served as the SVP at Stonepine Advisors. Prior to Stonepine, she was a VP at Jefferies & Company.

Own is also aggressively growing its software and development team to build valuable merchant-facing applications and partner-integrations. The company’s San Francisco development team now includes Dan Sabin, Carlos Sosa, Michael Choi, and Irene Haque. The company continues to expand its sales team in Michigan.
