Now, combining the ability to overlay flight routes with our global weather, our new 1.1 version will help pilots plan an safer, smoother and more efficient route, no matter where they are going.

WSI (Weather Services International), the most trusted name in aviation decision support, today announced that it would be demonstrating WSI Pilotbrief Optima 1.1, an updated version of the acclaimed Pilotbrief Optima application for the iPad, at the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference in San Diego, January 15-18 (booth # 1008).

The latest 1.1 release features unrivaled, new, global weather content and WSI’s proprietary EnRoute Hazards forecasts, which identify areas of severe turbulence, icing and convection, as well as locations of volcanic ash and dust throughout the world.

Pilotbrief Optima 1.1 also includes WSI’s Proprietary Global Tropical SATrad, a radar product derived from satellite imagery enabling pilots to visualize areas of deepest convection around the inter-tropical convergence zone. It also offers newly added European, Canadian and Australian radar, as well as global IR Satellite imagery, providing a complete weather picture anywhere in the world. The European radar product, highlighting the winter storm mosaic, allows pilots to see the areas of rain, mix and snow to understand how weather will impact their flights.

“Pilotbrief Optima already features the best pre-flight briefing with the most route-relevant weather available. Now, combining the ability to overlay flight routes with our global weather, our new 1.1 version will help pilots plan an safer, smoother and more efficient route, no matter where they are going,” said Jamie Zajac, WSI Pilotbrief Optima product manager. “WSI’s global EnRoute Hazards forecasts make it easy for pilots to avoid areas of deepest convection, severe icing and turbulence. Our forecasters take the guess-work out of interpreting the weather.”

The new WSI iPad app is a companion product to the browser-based Pilotbrief Optima service. Both versions are integrated together enabling users to save and view routes in both adaptations of the product.
