As hosts of this conference, now in its 11th year, Novogradac & Company LLP has sought to bring the most vital aspects of the program to the attention of NMTC practitioners nationwide.

Novogradac & Company LLP professionals and other community development experts will make their way in June to the nation’s capital for the firm’s annual Spring New Markets Tax Credit Conference. The event, held at the Omni Shoreham, June 7-8, will provide a platform for industry practitioners to examine the most pressing issues faced by the new markets tax credit (NMTC) industry, including loss of the program if the NMTC is not extended through legislation, and to study strategies and approaches necessary for thriving within an ever-changing economic and political environment.

“As hosts of this conference, now in its 11th year, Novogradac & Company LLP has sought to bring the most vital aspects of the program to the attention of NMTC practitioners nationwide,” says Annette Stevenson, conference chairwoman and partner in Novogradac & Company LLP’s Cleveland, Ohio office. “With an agenda that boasts a line-up of important topics, including advocating for a program extension and examining passed and pending legislation with those in-the-know, this year’s conference is designed to provide practitioners with real world know-how and to foster networking among active industry participants, both of which are imperative for those with a stake in the New Markets Tax Credit program.”

Conference panelists, chosen for their expertise and prominence in the industry, will cover issues pertinent to both the technical and strategic aspects of the program. Among the timely topics to be discussed are investing in non-metro counties and the opportunities as well as challenges such an endeavor brings; leveraging public funds, including a look at the deal structures that work; a mid-year review with the CDFI Fund; the latest on the CDFI Fund bond program and the Healthy Food Initiative; and a technical Q&A session at which conference sponsors will answer participants’ industry questions and concerns. Day One will close with a networking reception held at the Omni Shoreham from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All attendees are invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while discussing the details of the day’s sessions and cultivating new business prospects.

The event will also feature two full-day pre-conference workshops: NMTC 101: The Basics and NMTC 201: Compliance, which will be held June 6. Registration for each of the workshops is separate and additional fees apply.

The Spring New Markets Tax Credit Conference is co-hosted by Baker Hostetler, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Dudley Ventures, Holland & Knight LLP, JPMorgan Chase, Nixon Peabody LLP, PNC Bank’s Tax Credit Investment Group, Squire Sanders & Dempsey, SNR Denton, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo.
