Visitors to County Durham can now check out all that the area has to offer whilst on the move following the launch of New Mind's new mobile tourism website.

New Mind's mobile site provides swift access to all the information that mobile users will need to make the most of their stay in Durham.

The mobile site, m.thisisdurham.com is a simplified version of the main site, http://www.thisisdurham.com with no compromise on all the essential features that you would expect but presented in a one column display for ease of navigation and speed of access.

Information on where to stay and what to see and do is instantly available. Users can also sign up for e-newsletters, check out special offers and download vouchers as pdfs direct to their mobiles, as well as send e-postcards to friends and family.

The launch of the mobile site follows a recent report by London based web agency, Nucleus revealing 'stunning' growth in mobile web browsing for travel sites. Since August 2011 browsing was reported to be up by 72% with some travel sites experiencing a doubling of mobile traffic and registering over 20% mobile penetration.

Durham's new mobile site forms part of an integrated on and offline marketing strategy for the destination. Visit County Durham has already started to incorporate QR codes within its print media as well as on information boards across the county so mobile users are directed to key pages within http://www.thisisdurham.com for specific promotional campaigns.
