Lubbock Christian University is now offering an online Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This non-thesis, 60-credit-hour graduate program is completed over 3 years of study and prepares students to become licensed professional counselors.

Students gain comprehensive training in professional counseling taught from a Christian perspective. Rather than learning only Christian counseling theories, students learn the skills, theories and methods of professional counseling infused with Christian principles and values. Christian counseling programs frequently teach only Christian counseling approaches rather than all the theories and approaches utilized in professional counseling. Lubbock’s program combines the benefits of both approaches.

Students take all courses online and participate in three 1-week residencies (one per year), 2 internship courses and a practicum to learn practical skills and gain invaluable real-world experience.

Program curriculum is written to the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) standards for Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and courses meet licensing standards for professional counselors in Texas and many other states.

Students enjoy access to an online writing center with a doctorate level writing coach, and learn from faculty who all hold doctorates in their field and actively engage in the counseling profession. Courses also incorporate iPads to teach the latest apps available in the field.

Students will also receive academic and spiritual support throughout the degree program including access to an online chapel, personal growth groups and mentoring.
