Camino Public Relations is expanding its media relations services for non-profit organizations and social change campaigns with the appointment of Andrea Hagelgans as Vice President, Strategic Communications and Media Relations.

"Andrea is a rising star in social change communications, and we are thrilled to have her lead our media efforts," said Elizabeth Toledo, President, Camino PR. "She leads the field in media strategies that motivate the public to action and promotes productive public dialogue on some of the most contentious and nuanced issues of our time."

Andrea previously served as Media Director for Camino PR. She brings nearly a decade of national media advocacy working with leading charitable organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She is an expert in crisis communications, risk communications, brand management, and collaborative strategies.

Andrea has spearheaded policy and legal media campaigns on issues such as birth control access, gender and early childhood development, cancer prevention, state and federal healthcare policy, and women and immigration issues. She is an expert on reaching diverse audiences, including Latino-focused media and new media outlets. She was the Deputy Press Secretary for the New York City Campaign Finance Board during the 2005 Mayoral elections and ran the City’s debate program.

“I am proud to be part of a firm that partners with clients who align with our driving mission of using communications to advance social justice,” said Andrea Hagelgans. “By making a deep investment in our clients, we are able to create measurable communications that advance the short and long-term vision of our clients.”

The expansion of Camino PR's media services in the social change sector aligns with a growing trend among social change initiatives that more fully integrate messaging, media advocacy and new media technologies in an organization’s overarching strategic planning.

Andrea holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from Columbia University, and serves on the Board of Directors of Yorkville Common Pantry, the largest community-based food pantry in New York.
