Inc. Magazine’s Top 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America just hit the newsstands, and the news was good for New Wave Surgical. The company is the fastest growing surgical device company on the Inc. 500 list. From 2009 to 2012, the six-year-old company increased its revenue by 1,433.8 percent. It also ranked 18th on the health care company list, and 251 overall out of 7 million private companies in the United States.
New Wave Surgical specializes in developing innovative medical devices that assist surgeons, nurses and surgical technicians in enhancing visualization and operating room efficiency to help provide improved patient care.
New Wave Surgical’s flagship product D-H.E.L.P ™ was developed in a medical school dorm room five years ago, and is now being used in over 500 hospitals around the world. It is on track to be used in over 300,000 surgical procedures in 2012. Despite advancements in optics, fogging and laparoscope lens cleaning remain a frustration for surgeons. When scopes are fogged and soiled from body tissue and fluids, the operating room time is extended increasing procedure cost and increasing patient risks. With New Wave Surgical’s launch of the Advanced Laparoscopic Care Kit with D-H.E.L.P ™, surgeons, nurses and materials managers find that it addresses the visualization issues in a cost effective manner.
“We are ecstatic about the broad acceptance of D-H.E.L.P by the laparoscopic surgical community,” said Andrew B. Widmark, executive chairman of the board. “The value created by our product and support from end users continues to drive our growth. We have already surpassed 2011’s full year revenue in just the first half of 2012 and our growth and profitability have exceeded our expectations.”
In addition to working on other innovative new products, the company is expanding its global business in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
