Even celebrities aren't immune to accidents, which is why everyone should be prepared, says David Perecman, a New York accident attorney.

The personal chef of Alex Rodriguez caused considerable damage to the Yankees player's Chevy Suburban after she smashed it into another SUV. She was just pulling out onto Central Park West on her way to the Bronx. Accident lawyers know that this is a common occurrence.

"Any accident involving a celebrity or a relation to a celebrity is a reminder that auto accidents can happen to anyone, at anytime," says David Perecman, a New York auto accident lawyer.

Damage to A-Rod's vehicle included a smashed in rear door and a facelift for the Chevy logo, which was bent over the license plate.

The chef has driven the SUV on numerous other occasions, including some in the company of Kate Hudson, Rodriguez's new girlfriend. The chef's name is Mary, according to Rodriguez, who declined to provide Mary's last name.

After the accident, the chef found herself out of the frying pan and into the fire. According to witnesses at the scene of the auto accident, Rodriguez exited the building to inspect the damage, and flew into a rage that lasted a few minutes.

No injuries were reported. However, there was some damage to the other vehicle. In New York, auto accident lawyers know, that in cases where an employee is at fault for an accident while they were within the "course and scope" of their employment, victims are able to seek compensation from the employer. In this case, it appears that the chef was working or somehow serving the interests of her employer at the time of the auto accident, New York attorneys speculate after hearing the initial facts.

In New York, auto accident lawyer, Perecman explains, the law that lets a victim hold an employer liable for an employee's negligence is especially important. The employer often has additional liability insurance and/or more assets available to pay the higher amounts of damages suffered in more serious cases such as those involving severe injury or death.

Rage or not, after accessing the damage caused by the accident, Rodriguez went up to Yankee Stadium to play against the Baltimore Orioles where he singled home the first run of the game going 2 for 4. The Yankees won the game, the sixth straight one for the third time this season, extended their winning streak.

According to the New York Post, although Rodriguez was upset about the vehicle, he insisted that he never really lost his cool.

"The most important thing, however, was that there were no serious injuries or wrongful death in this incident," notes New York auto accident lawyer Perecman.
