New York, New York (PRWEB) August 07, 2012
New York auto accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm are calling for tougher regulation on low-fare buses following the crash of a double-decker Megabus. One woman died and 38 were taken to hospitals for various injuries after a packed bus hit an interstate bridge support pillar in Illinois, reported The New York Daily News(8/3/2012).
In recent years there have been a number of low-fare bus crash accidents.
“Bus companies are responsible for the lives of passengers. They need to do everything they can to protect those individuals from injury. Lower fares do not mean there can be lower safety standards,” New York auto accident lawyer David Perecman said.
In September 2010 four passengers were killed in a bus accident when a double-decker Megabus crashed into a low bridge near Syracuse, New York after the driver missed an exit, according to The New York Daily News.
In May 2011, fifteen people were killed in a bus accident when a New York City tour bus returning from a casino swerved off Interstate 95 and was sliced in two. Two days later, a driver and passenger of another bus were killed when the vehicle struck a bridge support after driving off the New Jersey Turnpike, said The New York Daily News
“Bus companies must maintain the highest standards of safety. This means strict compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and New York City regulations,” said New York auto accident lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York’s bus accident law firms. “It also means strict adherence to vehicle safety procedures.”
