NexTier Bank Receives BBB’s “2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics”

PITTSBURGH (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) November 21, 2008 -- NexTier Bank has received recognition that is especially fitting for its 130th anniversary in 2008. The Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania (BBB) recently selected NexTier Bank as a winner of its prestigious “2008 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics” in the large business category.

Each year, the BBB recognizes three businesses within its 28-county service area that maintain a solid commitment to conducting ethical business practices. Winners in the smaller business categories were AquaGuard Systems Inc., Pittsburgh, PA and Energy Swing Windows, Inc., Murrysville, PA.

He added that winning companies clearly demonstrate superior character on a daily basis and consistently exceeds marketplace standards for ethics in its relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, industry peers and the communities in which it does business.

“When my great-grandfather founded the bank 130 years ago, we were known as the Bank Built on a Handshake. I’m extremely proud that we’ve received this award so many decades later - it means we’ve upheld our original values of integrity and honorable business practices,” said Margaret Irvine Weir, NexTier Bank president. “It also means that our customers, communities, associates and vendors can count on us as much today and tomorrow as they have in the past.”
