I think a lot of Nirvana fans are going to be really happy this Christmas
Melbourne, Victoria (PRWEB) December 12, 2012
Last month, the New York Post announced Brett Morgan's plans to produce a documentary about legendary grunge rocker Kurt Cobain. The film will be overseen by Cobain's widow, also a musician, Courtney Love. The talk about the much anticipated documentary has created a Nirvana product shopping frenzy at band merchandise webstore Planet 13. "Our Nirvana products have always been in high demand," says musician and Planet 13 owner Shawn Scott, "But once fans realized the doco was really going to happen, their reminiscing morphed into sales!"
Kurt Cobain's career was tragically cut short in the nineties, just when his band Nirvana was peaking in the newly formed grunge rock scene. Although fleeting, his life impacted the music world and left a gaping hole in the hearts of many fans.
Recognizing the need for a truly good documentary about the Nirvana singer, Brett Morgan (who also recently produced a Rolling Stones documentary), is organizing the details of the film with Cobain's widow Courtney Love.
"I remember back when Kurt's death was announced," recalls Shawn Scott, musician and owner of band shirt store Planet 13, "MTV had dedicated support hotlines for fans to call in order to deal with the tragedy."
The film isn't expected to be released until 2014, but Shawn says that's actually fueling his webstore's Nirvana product sales. "The announcement of the documentary has reminded fans about how much Kurt's music meant to them. Then the memories create the desire to connect again with that person, event or thing."
Shawn goes on to say, "Because fans won't be able to see the film for at least another couple of years, they're gaining comfort in acquiring items from us that mean something to them. The licensed logos and images that appear on our Nirvana products are all synonymous with Kurt."
Shawn mentions the media buzz around the Kurt Cobain documentary has caused a Nirvana product shopping frenzy at his music merchandise store Planet 13. "I think a lot of Nirvana fans are going to be really happy this Christmas," remarks Shawn, "we're sending out tons of Nirvana tees as gifts and some of the accessories as stocking stuffers."
It's been noted that the documentary is going to show the various aspects of Kurt's talents, including his abilities as a songwriter, musician, artist and filmmaker. "This documentary is long overdue, the fans deserve it and I can't wait for it to come out" says Shawn.
