With Media Edition 2.2, NitroDesk is just scratching the surface of what is possible by marrying robust online services with a rich desktop client. We look forward to continuing R&D to support more sites, the combination of which provide end user experience and functionality that go way beyond the sum of its parts

The concept of sharing photos and videos on-line is not new. However, managing photos and videos on various free as well as commercial media sharing services has always been a challenge to professional as well as casual users. Different sites have different mechanisms for uploading photos; some sites even have a plethora of third-party tools for uploading. Once the photos or videos have been uploaded, the user typically has to use web-based, often non-standard user interfaces for managing them.
NitroDesk Inc., a Seattle area company aspires to make things easier for their users by releasing NitroDesk Media Edition, a program that enables photographers to upload, manage, transfer and synchronize their photos with several on-line media sharing sites.
NitroDesk Media Edition provides several features that enable photographers to perform tasks that have been traditionally hard to do with on-line albums. Besides managing their albums on multiple sites using a uniform interface, photographers can also upload photos to multiple sites simultaneously. They can now drag and drop photos as well as albums from one site to another and let NitroDesk take care of actually performing the transfer in the background. Another feature of NitroDesk is the ability to keep one or more designated folders on the user's computer synchronized with selected on-line albums or all the albums of the user from one site.
"We have thousands of photos in our on-line catalog. Historically, managing these has been very time consuming for us. NitroDesk Media Edition has provided us with a very friendly and efficient way to manage our on-line photo albums through its practical user interface and fast desktop experience. With NitroDesk Media Edition, we were able to immediately get a backup copy of all our on-line albums to our local computer using its synchronization feature. We also continue to save time and effort by being able to manage the titles, keywords and other properties of the photos," says Martin Weare, Director of Pony and Carriage Ltd., the U.K's premier specialist supplier for horse drawn carriages, harnesses and carriage driving accessories for pleasure, competition commercial use.
NitroDesk currently supports ten different sites for photo and/or video management.
In addition to connecting to the on-line media sharing sites, NitroDesk also automatically detects the presence of three prominent desktop photo cataloging applications and integrates with them to provide seamless uploading of images directly from these applications to one or more of the supported on-line sites.
"With Media Edition 2.2, NitroDesk is just scratching the surface of what is possible by marrying robust online services with a rich desktop client. We look forward to continuing R&D to support more sites, the combination of which provide end user experience and functionality that go way beyond the sum of its parts," said Goutham Sukumar, Founder of NitroDesk Inc.
NitroDesk Media Edition runs on Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista, and requires Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0.
Pricing and Availability
NitroDesk Media Edition is available for download from NitroDesk. The Media Edition is priced at $29.99, and it can be securely purchased and unlocked directly from the program by clicking on the License button in the main window of the program.
