NitroDesk has released the third generation of their solution for Microsoft ® Exchange Server access for Android-powered devices. Latest release includes full support for ActiveSync technology supporting instant updates to Email, Contacts and Calendar.

TouchDown Version 3

NitroDesk, the makers of TouchDown, a popular Microsoft ® Exchange server synchronization solution for Android-powered devices, have announced the general availability of the third generation of TouchDown in Android Market. The latest version builds upon the previous releases by adding several new capabilities to the existing product. Among the new features are : Full ActiveSync support, the ability to instantly and automatically synchronize changes made to the Exchange Personal address book into the Android phone book, and support for setting Peak Hours to specify when to automatically check for changes to Exchange data.

"The third generation is one of the most significant releases we have ever made. With this release, we are now able to provide an unprecedented level of agility, simplicity and functionality for corporate email access on the Android platform. The new 'ActiveSync Only' connection mode in the latest release makes TouchDown react faster to changes on the server, reduce the data transfer volume to a fraction of what it used to be for other protocols, as well as greatly simplifies the process of configuring the product for first-time use." says Goutham Sukumar, Founder of NitroDesk Inc.

The new ActiveSync Only Mode can be chosen by users who have ActiveSync protocol versions 2.5 and above available on their server. When using this mode, operations such as reading and deleting messages on the device reflect almost instantaneously on the server. This version also makes changes to contacts and calendar events appear on the device instantaneously when the user has push mode enabled.

The Peak Times setting in the new version allows the user to specify time ranges for each day of the week during which automated checking for changes will take place. At other times, users still have the option to manually check for changes.

The new version also allows automatic and constant one-way synchronization of contact information from the server to the device's built-in phone book, thereby making sure that the latest contact data is always available on the device, without having to worry about copying the information manually.

Another new feature in the latest version of TouchDown is the ability to modify appointments on the Calendar. Users can change the various attributes of non-recurring appointments and have the changes updated on the server as well as have the invitees automatically updated with the changes.

System Requirements
TouchDown requires Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or above to be running in the organization, with any one of three protocols (ActiveSync, Exchange Web Services or Exchange WebDAV) available and exposed over the internet.

Pricing and Availability
NitroDesk TouchDown is priced at USD 24.99 and is available for download and purchase directly on the device from Android Market.
