The depth of information available on NOLA.com drove the site redesign. The NOLA.com team included experts in usability, search engine optimization and Web design. The homepage of NOLA.com is an illustrated site index to the topical content. Sports fans can instantly select the sport and team they are interested in. A High School Sports search box allows the visitor to get right to the latest information on the school, sport, team or player they are interested in. Each section of the homepage offers this level of choice and flexibility.
There are also exciting new features. Weather, located on the upper right, provides a quick local update, several links and a search box. In the case of extreme weather the New Orleans Weather tab will turn red, immediately alerting the viewer to a storm or other hazard. The Classifieds and Entertainment sections have their own navigation, speedily guiding users to information they want and need.
NOLA.com is highly interactive and now the popular forums can be found at a glance - participants choose to see a listing of all forums or a listing of the most popular topics of the moment. Additional options to participate include a direct link from the homepage to upload videos or photos.
