Dr. Stephanie Castro of Nanofilm, the Ohio nanotechnology company, will be speaking at the American Coatings Conference, April 12-14 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her presentation,“Towards Durable Antifog Coatings for Plastics”, will be an analysis of why the usual approaches to making antifog coatings have a negative effect on abrasion resistance, and include a review Nanofilm’s advanced research in the field.

Nanofilm’s Dr. Stephanie Castro will discuss how antifog coatings have a negative effect on abrasion resistance and review Nanofilm’s advanced research at the American Coatings Conference.

There’s a clear market need for improved anti-fog coatings. In this presentation I’ll discuss how we’re approaching it in the Nanofilm labs.

Dr. Stephanie Castro of Nanofilm, the Ohio nanotechnology company, will be speaking at the American Coatings Conference to be held April 12-14 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The title of Castro’s presentation is “Towards Durable Antifog Coatings for Plastics”. The talk will be an analysis of why the usual approaches to making antifog coatings have a negative effect on abrasion resistance, including a review Nanofilm’s advanced research in the field.

Dr. Castro leads Nanofilm’s research in UV-curable coatings for plastics and self-assembled silane coatings on glass and ceramics. For more than 10 years, she has worked in the field of semiconductor nanoparticle synthesis and coating, with a focus on functionalized self-assembled monolayers on nanocrystals. She is the author of 19 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is co-inventor on 8 U.S. patents (awarded) and 6 patent applications.

“There’s a clear market need for improved anti-fog coatings.” says Castro. “In this presentation I’ll discuss how we’re approaching it in the Nanofilm labs.”

The American Coatings Conference invites technical professions in the coatings industry to learn about the most recent research results and industrial developments. From over 200 submissions, Dr. Castro’s was chosen as one 96 high-level technical papers for oral presentation.

Nanofilm, founded in 1985, is a leader in nanofilm technology and self-assembling thin films for a variety of substrates and surfaces. With an in-house team of nanotechnology specialists, the company continues to leverage its rich technological strengths and core competences to capture growth opportunities in nanotechnology applications worldwide. Nanofilm is a privately held company with headquarters in Valley View, Ohio, near Cleveland. http://www.nanfilmtechnology.com
