@properties, Chicago’s #1 real estate brokerage firm and the third largest brokerage firm in Northern Illinois, has acquired a building at 26-30 Green Bay Road in Winnetka, for its second North Shore Chicago real estate office.

The company, founded 10 years ago by top-producing real estate agents Michael Golden and Thaddeus Wong, quickly established itself as the largest real estate broker in the city before embarking on a North Shore expansion last summer. Its Evanston office, which opened in August 2009, is now home to approximately 75 REALTORS®. The Winnetka office will accommodate approximately 50 additional North Shore Chicago real estate agents, said Wong.

@properties is renovating the 4,000-square-foot single-story building located just south of Winnetka Avenue and across from the Indian Hill Metra station. Golden and Wong said they hope to begin construction sometime in the next 45 days and open the office in August.

“The reception on the North Shore has been fantastic. We have formed relationships with a lot of talented agents and great clients. There is no question the demand is there for another office, and we’re excited about serving the community from this location,” said Wong.

Michael Golden credits @properties’ rapid expansion in North Shore Chicago real estate to the company’s extensive property-branding and marketing services and, ironically, its strength in the city market. “Our in-house marketing services, experienced relocation team and partnerships with luxury media give our clients an edge in a very competitive market,” said Golden. “Because we have such strong market share downtown, we can facilitate a seamless move from the city to the North Shore and vice versa.”

The new office will serve the North Shore towns of Winnetka, Kenilworth, Wilmette, Glencoe, Northfield, Highland Park, Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, as well as surrounding communities. Golden and Wong said @properties will look to open at least one more North Shore Chicago real estate office by 2012.

They also said that the post-bubble market has created opportunities for their firm, as evidenced by @properties’ ongoing market-share gains in the city and suburbs. The firm has more than doubled its North Shore market share year to date (+154 percent), and in 2009 @properties posted the largest market share gains of any of the top 10 brokerage firms in downtown Chicago (+28 percent) and Northern Illinois (+19 percent).

“There has been, and will continue to be, consolidation throughout the industry. Many brokerage firms are going through an identity crisis and many have had to cut services. As a local, independent company, @properties can be more responsive to our clients and the marketplace. We’ve introduced more new programs and resources during the past two years than we have during any other two-year period in our history,” said Golden.

“Being local also means serving the communities in which we do business. Individually as agents and collectively as a company, our philosophy is very much about getting involved and giving back. We feel privileged to do business on the North Shore where that is the prevailing attitude thanks to a lot of great companies and people,” said Wong.
