The leading Northwest Florida Realtors of the North Florida Realty Group, LLC foresee positive changes in the region’s real estate market with the advent of the new international airport in Panama City. Scheduled to open in May of this year, the new Panama City-Bay County International Airport – renamed as the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport – is predicted to have a positive impact on the growth of the real estate market not just in the West Bay and Bay County area, but throughout the Northwest Florida region as well.
“The new airport is going to give a big boost to the local economy,” says Blake Baber, lead partner at the North Florida Realty Group. “We will be seeing a great deal of real estate development in the area immediately in its vicinity, and the impact will likely be felt in the surrounding areas as well. Job growth is also predicted for the region, as is a probable rise in demand for Panama City Beach, FL homes.”
The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, which began construction in 2008, also has the distinction of being the first post-9/11 international airport to be built in the United States. The Airport Authority overseeing the project has also stated that the new airport will have the country’s first LEED-certified “green” Terminal Building and that it will, in effect, be the first “green airport” in the United States.
