A 2012 survey reveals both employee’s and management believe company culture is important but have different views on how a ‘good culture’ is achieved. Northstar Consulting Group conduct research to find out why.

We decided to conduct our own research into how ‘culture’ can influence performance and productivity and reading this recent report from Deloitte has sparked further questions.

“Deloitte”, a brand under which thousands of professionals in independent firms around the globe collaborate to provide auditing, tax and risk management services, release a report "Culture in the Workplace,". Northstar Consulting Group concur there is a correlation between employees who say their organization has a clearly articulated and lived culture and those that say they are "happy at work" and feel "valued by [their] company".

Northstar Consulting Group are outsourced by Fortune 500 brands to develop direct marketing strategies and increase customer acquisition on a face-to-face level. ‘Our company culture has been of huge importance to us’ claims Bart Yates, CEO of Northstar Consulting Group, based in New York City. ‘We decided to conduct our own research into how ‘culture’ can influence performance and productivity and reading this recent report from Deloitte has sparked further questions. There are some significant differences between employee and executive views on this topic and although our research is in the early stages, I would confidently suggest that more aligned vision would contribute to higher productivity and business success’.

The Deloitte report further reveals when considering which factors substantially contribute to a company’s success, a significantly higher percentage of executives identified “a clearly defined business strategy” (76%) rather than “clearly defined and communicated core values and beliefs” (62%).

Northstar Consulting Group plan to conduct further research in to how company culture contributes to the success, productivity and performance of a business. The firm are 4 weeks into the study which is scheduled to take place over 12 weeks. Results will be reported by Northstar Consulting Group in the 4th quarter of 2012.
