Classic Car Insurance Provider, Norwich Union, Gears Up for MSA Classic

Entries are now open for this year's Norwich Union MSA Classic, which will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2008. The annual event celebrates Britain's vast automobile heritage with help from classic car lovers up and down the country.

London, UK (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- The iconic classic car event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with three additional start locations, the introduction of a Veteran and Edwardian route and a return to the finish at Silverstone, where drivers will get to complete parade laps of the legendary Grand Prix circuit. And to mark the event, Norwich Union is offering a 10% discount on their classic car insurance.

Last year's revival of the event saw the original organiser and the historic sponsor reunite and the winning formula proved such a success that entries filled up in less than three weeks. This year is set to be no exception - two days after entries opened, a fifth of places have been filled already.

After the success of last year, we are extremely happy to once again be supporting the Norwich Union MSA Classic. The event has always had a great sense of character and a real sense of fun and we look forward to seeing a fantastic line-up of some of Britain's best-loved cars.
Starting locations for 2008 bring the event to Bath, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Chester, Dorking, Norwich, Nottingham and Silverstone. Cardiff is one of the new locations for 2008, where cars will start from the picturesque Cardiff Castle. The most southerly start point sets drivers off from the largest vineyard in the UK, Denbies English Vineyard in Dorking.

While the start locations have increased, the theme and overall format of the event remains unchanged. Drivers will once again be taken on some of the best driving roads in Britain, set amidst beautiful rolling countryside. Along the way drivers will stop at carefully selected checkpoints which are of specific interest to the motoring enthusiast.

The cost of entering the event remains low at £110 and £80 for the Veteran and Edwardian route. The only criteria for entry is that cars must be at least 20 years old, opening up the event to a wide variety of classic cars.

Talking about the 2008 event, Andrew Coe, chief executive of International Motor Sports Ltd. (IMS), the event organiser, explained: "We have striven to build upon the success of last year's event and have incorporated additional start locations as well as the Veteran and Edwardian route to allow a greater number of collector's car lovers to take part. We are proud to again offer Silverstone as the finishing point and give participants the opportunity to drive around the spiritual home of British motorsport. I strongly urge those who want to enter to get their entries in early to avoid disappointment."

Commenting on Norwich Union's involvement in the event, David Tyers, director, Norwich Union Direct said: "After the success of last year, we are extremely happy to once again be supporting the Norwich Union MSA Classic. The event has always had a great sense of character and a real sense of fun and we look forward to seeing a fantastic line-up of some of Britain's best-loved cars."
