The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) announced today that the 5th annual Fans on the Field, the center’s sports-fan-friendly 5K and 10K walk/run, will be held Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Voted Best 10K in Colorado (Colorado Runner Magazine 2009) this event raises money to help support NSCD’s unique and innovative sports programs for children and adults with any type of physical or cognitive disability.

The Fans on the Field     5k/10k courses take participants through Denver’s three world-class sporting venues and professional sports franchises, including INVESCO Field at Mile High, Coors Field and Pepsi Center. Thousands of sports fans, families, runners and walkers from Colorado and surrounding states participate in the event each year and enjoy the unique opportunity of experiencing some of the nation’s top professional sports arenas up close and personal.

Both the 5K and 10K start and finish at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The 10K course proceeds to the Pepsi Center, crosses the floor (ice/basketball court TBD), goes through the streets of Denver to Coors Field for a run along the warning track, and along the South Platte River bike path to finish along the sidelines at INVESCO Field at Mile High. New this year will be the 1st annual Rookie Run, a fun run around INVESCO Field, open to kids under the age of 10. The event concludes with a post-event Tailgate Party with complimentary BBQ, live music and kid’s activities.

Registration for NSCDis now open at http://www.FansOnTheField.com. All three courses are fully accessible.
