Medical/Surgical Specialists Lead Unique Visitors to Employment Site Reports Data for Online Hiring Trends

Vertical Alliance Group (VAG) reported today that more than 26 percent of unique visitors who recently used its employment Web site to search for and apply to open job opportunities are medical/surgical candidates.

    Critical care (25.2 percent), emergency department (18.2 percent), women's health (15.7 percent) and operating room specialists (14.5 percent) rounded out the visitor categories during the reporting period ended July 30, 2007.

VAG also reported that its unique visitor count - which had already established the 100,000- plus monthly benchmark in March 2007 - increased nearly 20 percent from May through July 2007, signaling that more nurses are turning to the online recruiting site to find jobs.

During the same period, VAG also noted that Texas, California, Florida and Washington, DC, were the top geographic regions with the most traffic on This data aligns with a May 2006 report from the Journal of the American Medical Association of states with the most nursing vacancies and those with the highest vacancy rates.
