With school starting, summer ending and beautiful fall weather to enjoy, people tend to delay planning their spring or winter vacations.

However, today's unpredictable airline industry and fluctuating prices are not likely to benefit procrastinators.

Most travel experts agree, book early and get the vacation you want. Wait, and you might find yourself sacrificing some of the most important details of the trip you desire, including a low price.

Many airlines, hotels and vacation package providers are offering incentives for people to start booking their winter or spring vacations at least 60 to 90 days in advance. Simply enter "early booking discounts" in a Google or Yahoo keyword search and you will generate a seemingly endless list of specials from travel providers eager to fill their rooms and seats.

Melissa Wiome, Brand Manager of NWA WorldVacations, revealed that many hotel partners provide WorldVacations with discounted rates to proactive travelers who plan their winter or spring trip in the fall.

"This time of year it's a huge benefit to take advantage of the low prices offered by hotels. You won't see these rates again for winter and spring travel," said Wiome.

To research the savings some Caribbean hotels offer, travelers can visit the NWA WorldVacations website where they will find a list of early booking discounts. For example, the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica is giving advance planners up to $1,030 in savings (per person).

This trend is not limited to the Caribbean. Hawaiian resorts lure early bookers with complimentary nights, room upgrades, and dining credit. Pat Hartmann, Product Manager of Hawaii for NWA WorldVacations, explained that the hotels want ample time to prepare for their visitors.

"When consumers book early the hotels are better able to manage their inventory and allocate room blocks to wholesalers, in turn the customer has a better chance of confirming the hotel and room category they are looking for," said Hartmann.

In addition to low hotel rates, packaged vacation providers such as NWA WorldVacations offer exclusive sales to travelers who prefer to buy their air and hotel together. "Often times early-bookers can double-up on promotions. This means someone can take advantage of discounted hotel rates with an early booking incentive, and add on the savings from one of our vacation package promotional deals," said Wiome.

In some situations, people are reluctant to reserve their vacation because they think the price will go down after booking. NWA WorldVacations sells a product called Travel Protection Plan PLUS, which gives consumers peace of mind with price protection plans. The Travel Protection Plan PLUS states that if NWA WorldVacations offers the identical vacation at a lower price after a purchase has been made, the company will refund the difference, thus ensuring that the traveler will pay the lowest price possible for their NWA WorldVacations package.

Beyond the benefit of a low price, when travelers book early they have a better selection of flight times and access to the best hotel rooms. Some companies are booking airline seats and rooms for travel as far out as December of 2009 and beyond. If travelers wait until next fall to book, their top accommodation choice could be gone, or only available to the highest bidder.

As for airfare, with fuel costs expected to rise by $20.2 billion in 2008 compared to 2007 according to the Air Transport Association, the price of airline tickets is expected to stay higher than consumers are used to paying. By booking early, vacationers avoid premium priced fares and additional surcharges that are sometimes added throughout the year. Also, travelers can confirm a flight date and time that appeals to their travel preferences and, of course, steer clear of the dreaded middle seat.

NWA WorldVacations offers the most flexible flight options and the widest selection of hotels, cars and tours at a terrific value. In addition, the tour operator offers the most comprehensive luxury and romance vacation packages to Hawaii through its LIFESTYLE Collection featuring Luxury and Romance.
