New York must take steps to address the high-risk intersection before another family loses a loved one in a bus or auto accident at this same New York intersection.
New York, New York (PRWEB) February 28, 2012
A woman crossing Northern Boulevard and Union Street died after getting hit by a city bus last week, reported the New York Post (2/23/2012).
New York personal injury lawyers understand that the Queens intersection where the fatal bus accident occurred is known as one of the most dangerous intersections in New York City.
“New York must take steps to address the high-risk intersection before another family loses a loved one in a bus or auto accident at this same New York intersection,” said New York auto accident lawyer David Perecman, a bus and auto accident lawyer in New York for over 30 years.
Meilan Jin, 22, was killed in the New York bus accident after an out-of-service MTA vehicle hit her while making a right hand turn, said the NY1 (2/22/2012).
The driver was “‘apparently unaware’ that someone had been struck,” reported the New York Post.
Between 1995 and 2009, 92 pedestrian-related accidents occurred at the same Queens intersection where Jin was killed, said Michael Murphy, a spokesman for the advocacy group Transportation Alternatives.
The NYPD is also aware that there is a problem. According to police, they issued between 70 and 100 summonses a month at the intersection where Jin was killed, reported the Queens Times Ledger (2/23/2012).
