A lush 5000 square foot urban oasis on the waterfront in Williamsburg, Jungle Design NYC is a retail nursery and the headquarters of an accomplished design team that specializes in urban outdoor spaces, rooftop gardens and good old backyard landscaping. Scented and flowering ornamentals, dainty or substantial succulents, creeping vines, shrubbery and stately treesall can be found at Jungle along with inventive designer furnishings, planters and containers plus a multitude of wild and wonderful garden accessories.

The massive lot that houses the Jungle Nursery is nestled inconspicuously at 61 Kent between North 10th and 11th Streets and is recognizable by the black on black garden ant motif that clambers good-naturedly up its corrugated frontage. The roll down gate reveals a virtual paradise of spectacular colors and fertile greenery. Backdrops of an English scent garden or a collection of spiny dessert cacti are set off by brilliant modern furniture or antique wirework settees. Jungle Designs owner and head designer Amanda Mitchell, has stunningly curated this retail space. The impression of being on the luxurious grounds of a private estate makes it almost intimidating to walk into. Nevertheless, Jungle is open for business.

Jungles proprietress, Amanda Mitchell, has a long history of environmentally conscious design. Her former company Cornerstone specialized in reclaimed refurbished and resold lumbers and antique fixtures. From the time that Amanda started Jungle in 2007 she has established her company by using unconventional methods and materials to achieve transcendent results. From custom crafted furniture to the use of exotic and currently unavailable woods, Jungles belief in the revival of items with provenance and scarcity, assures that reclaimed lumber and recycled objects will find their way into Jungles imaginative designs whenever practicable. Jungles recent projects include the once abandoned lot behind The Mill Building for which Amanda envisioned a meandering footpath through a little green commons dotted with aromatic Birch Trees. For the transformation of a neglected Brooklyn backyard into a stylish, low maintenance haven for the brownstones residents the Jungle team used Faux Turf as ground cover, Limestone paving stones to create the patio and reclaimed Cypress fencing to enclose the yard.

Jungle is also an incomparable open-air event space bursting with greenery and staged with chic outdoor furniture concepts ranging from the ultra modern to revamped vintage pieces. Jungle is available for event rentals and has teamed with the boutique caterer, The Kitchen Witch of Brooklyn, to work with guests to create personalized menus and offer planning assistance. DJ driven Jungle Tuesdays have been entertaining the cool kids all summer and more parties by starlight are in the works by the event company The Kitchen. Naturally, Jungle is also unsurpassed when it comes to floral arrangements and botanical displays for weddings and other special occasions. Jungle offers an amazing Hot Orange portable wood-fired hot tub onsite as an addition to your event or as the main event! This ingenious tub out of The Netherlands is the brainchild of designer Floris Schoonderbeek, who hopes to inspire a culture of boundless bathing. The Dutchtub Party is a Jungle on-premises rental available for a rendezvous for 2 up to a cozy party of 12. Imagine the night sky, luxurious grounds and one hot Dutchtub the rest is up to bathers. The Dutch Tub is also available for delivery to private spaces and Jungle is an authorized dealer as well.

Although Jungle is an outdoor venue there is a beautiful sheltered structure by the renowned architect Galia Solomonoff. The semi permanent structure serves as a focal point on the lot and helps to shelter Jungles more precious accoutrement as well as Jungle Designs tireless colleagues. For Ms. Solomonoffss collaboration with Robert Irwin on the DIA Beacon Museum, using readily available materials incorporated with an existing factory in the historic Hudson River town, she was honored with several top AIA awards.

Jungles courteous and creative staff is available to all who wish to participate in the growing movement towards urban design that incorporates green space and energy solutions through sustainable methods. Jungle is ripe for the kitchen gardener, window box enthusiasts or Urban Homesteaders whether one needs start to finish design, construction and maintenance on a sprawling commercial common area or residential recreational rooftop, Jungles team is prepared to offer innovative strategies for any environment that encourages plant life and outdoor activities! Jungle Design NYC is a full service outdoor design, installation and maintenance company. The team is capable of everything from landscaping gardens to hard-scaping for tiles and pavers to watering the plants and maintaining the yard for those who want living greenery without the hassle of keeping it alive!

Workshops, Events and tutorials are held onsite at Jungle and will be announced on the Jungle Design NYC website: http://www.jungledesignnyc.com
