Education is critical and all children should receive impartial treatment and access.
New York, New York (PRWEB) March 13, 2012
New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman welcomes newly released data from the U.S. Department of Education’s Civil Rights Data Collection website (3/7/2012).
“Evidence is the key to reshaping educational services and responses to achieve fairness and equality for all students,” said New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York’s civil rights law firms.
The Civil Rights Data Collection is a national survey of 72,000 schools in 7,000 school districts and of students in kindergarten through high school. It shows a range of civil rights indicators from school districts, including discipline, funding, achievement, and bullying and harassment policies. The data are part of an ongoing effort by the Department of Education (DOE) to collect information.
An analysis of the data by New York civil rights violation lawyers at The Perecman Firm revealed that African-American and Hispanic students are more often subject to harsher disciplinary actions than other students; minority students have less access to experienced teachers; and students with disabilities are suspended at a rate twice that of students without disabilities.
“Concrete strategies are needed to address disparities and prevent widening gaps in opportunity and achievement. Education is critical and all children should receive impartial treatment and access,” said New York civil rights violation lawyer Perecman, a civil rights violation lawyer in New York for over 30 years.
Individuals who believe they have been victims of a New York civil rights violation most likely have the option of filing a civil rights violation lawsuit in New York against those responsible for any damage suffered as a result.
