1Cover NZ, already known for providing economical travel insurance policies, have dropped their travel medical insurance policies to Australia, with Eddie Feltham, Managing Director of 1Cover, announcing the company’s decision to cut 10% off the cost of travel insurance for Kiwis visiting or taking a working holiday in Australia.
“Ten percent may not seem like a huge amount,” Mr Feltham says, “but for many of the more than 800,000* New Zealanders who have come to Australia this year, for families, pensioners, backpackers and students, it can be a significant amount, and no one should have to pay more than they need to get quality travel insurance.
“We were able to identify this cost cutting opportunity while still maintaining our top end policies and service, which means consumers can enjoy some of the best cover on the market at an even lower price.”
1Cover, who have been experiencing substantial growth and growing reputation for their comprehensive products and service since expanding their operations into New Zealand in 2006, offer Comprehensive, Essential and Basic travel insurance levels.
“We already supplied travel insurance to many thousands of New Zealanders travelling to Australia,” Mr Feltham says. “Therefore it made economic sense to expand our online insurance operations into New Zealand for global and New Zealand domestic travel insurance as well.”
It has been a move that has seen all parties benefit and has added depth and beneficial competition to the local travel insurance industry. This latest 10% reduction is another way 1Cover NZ is seeking to provide better products and service to the New Zealand travel market.
A sampling of 1Cover’s comprehensive travel insurance for Australia includes unlimited emergency assistance, hospital and medical expenses and trip cancellation and lost deposits; additional emergency accommodation and travel expenses to $50,000; accidental death and disability to $25,000; plus luggage, personal effects, traveller’s cheques, credit cards and cash; loss of income, trip resumption, luggage delay and rental vehicle excess.
Online policies are available for travellers to 79 years, with senior travel insurance for those 80 years and above available by phone consultation, and children under 21 are covered free when travelling with family members. 1Cover NZ are underwritten by Allianz and are aligned with leading emergency services provider, Mondial Assistance.
