Dan Yesbeck, Rockford’s Director of IT, “…it was their commitment to accuracy and with their efforts we could add more marketing tools and latitude to our transactional communications that were deemed even more critical in our evaluation.”

OBRIEN Insurance Solutions (OBRIEN), a provider of business solutions specifically designed to modernize and refine an insurance company’s printed and digital customer communications, announced today that Rockford Mutual Insurance (Rockford) has selected OBRIEN as its strategic partner to enable its new document strategy.

OBRIEN was selected for its ability to effectively handle Rockford’s short-term need for critical policyholder communications while offering the competencies to support Rockford’s longer-term digital document strategy. Offering both monochrome and full color digital print capabilities, OBRIEN’s long and successful history working with insurers and expert knowledge of insurance related communications were also cited as contributing factors to the Rockford Mutual decision.

The implementation of Rockford’s new document strategy began with a successful two and a half month project resulting in a drastic reduction of the footprint associated with Rockford’s internal print and mail operation. Today most critical policyholder documents are produced and distributed from OBRIEN’s Bartlett facility.

Dan Yesbeck, Rockford’s Director of Information Technology commented on the OBRIEN decision saying, “We selected OBRIEN based on a compilation of factors. Our cost study demonstrated that OBRIEN would save us money, as they were less expensive versus our internal operations. However, it was their commitment to accuracy and with their efforts we could add more marketing tools and latitude to our transactional communications that were deemed even more critical in our evaluation.”

Yesbeck added, “Since our implementation of OBRIEN’s solution, we have been very pleased with the checks and balances they have in place to add significant control to document production and delivery. Their vigilance to accuracy has been a great addition to our process of policyholder communication and engagement.”

One area that OBRIEN addressed that was not anticipated, when Rockford began the implementation process was the design of several pieces of insert collateral used within the current print and mail of transactional communications to policyholders. OBRIEN, as part of its comprehensive Policyholder Engagement Management System (PEMS™), developed multiple unique communications from messaging concept through final design and production, developing a look and feel prepared to meet Rockford’s brand and tone.

While Rockford’s initial decision to outsource the print and mail function was prompted by the goal of improving its service and efficiency to its customers, additional benefits are being achieved and include:

  •     Improved business continuity planning with OBRIEN providing a disaster recovery plan in the case of an unforeseen event;
  •     Reduced costs for production and delivery of key customer communications ranging from premium billing to policy issuance and other critical communications;
  •     A flexible pay-as-you-go pricing model; and
  •     Improved operational efficiency and control for policyholder communications.

OBRIEN’s Director Business Development Peter Mier noted, “We are excited to welcome Rockford Mutual to our growing family of insurance company clients. Many small and mid-size insurers are looking to modernize their document strategy, but finding limited options for companies their size. This is where OBRIEN specializes --- we are proud of our ability to be flexible and have our services fit each customer’s unique needs. And, given our range of solutions from traditional print and mail to a modern and fully digital document management environment we can meet our insurance customers’ needs for the long term, whether they are looking to outsource or manage their documents and communications in-house.”
