With the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games less than a month away, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has launched the official souvenir programme of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The programme goes on sale today via the online Olympic Shop and across official London 2012 shops and John Lewis department stores, priced at only £10.
At just over 190 pages, the programme explores the history of previous Olympic Games, provides an A-Z of this year’s Olympic sports and contains exclusive introductory letters from Her Majesty The Queen, David Cameron and Mayor Boris Johnson, making this programme a unique keepsake for London 2012.
The programme also offers exclusive access into the training routines of some of Team GB’s most promising athletes along with behind the scenes interviews from those who are helping to make the Olympic Games run smoothly, from an equestrian course builder to armoury and transport team members.
Learn more about some of the world’s greatest athletes with an in depth interview from the fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, and unique photography of international sports heroes Rafael Nadal and Michael Phelps, among many more. This is the comprehensive guide to the Games with insights into each of the Olympic disciplines, from the rules of Hockey to the history of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
LOCOG chief executive, Paul Deighton said, "The official souvenir programme of the London 2012 Olympic Games is a comprehensive, insider’s exclusive view of the Games and will be the ultimate keepsake from London 2012.
"We are thrilled with the contributors who have been involved in creating this souvenir. From a specially commissioned piece of art by Sir Peter Blake, to imagery from leading fashion photographer Jonathan Glynn-Smith, it celebrates the efforts which have gone into hosting this year’s Games."
The programme is part of the official London 2012 merchandise range. It is estimated that the range will generate more than £1 billion worth of sales, contributing more than £86m to the staging of the Games.
The whole London 2012 range is available online at http://shop.london2012.com or in the network of shops at St Pancras International and Paddington station, Heathrow Terminal 3 and 5, Stansted Airport, Canary Wharf, Weymouth and Portland and in John Lewis locations at Oxford Street, Stratford City and across the rest of the UK.
