Companies use on hold messaging as a marketing tool for good reason. It works.
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) July 19, 2012
On Hold Company, a leading provider of on hold messages and marketing for business, today released an infographic titled "Does On Hold Messaging Really Work?" The infographic highlights the effectiveness of on hold messaging and describes how businesses use it to increase professionalism and promote company products and services.
With 57 percent of callers being placed on hold, informational messages have become an important communication tool for business. A recent national survey conducted by the On Hold Messaging Association (OHMA.org) found that 85 percent of companies that use on hold messaging see it as a useful marketing tool. Citing those study results, the infographic describes how businesses use hold messages and highlights the benefits to both businesses and customers alike.
Almost three-quarters of companies surveyed said that hold messaging is an effective way to present a professional image and promote the company's products and services. Businesses also report using on hold messages to enhance the customer experience and discourage hang-ups.
"Companies use on hold messaging as a marketing tool for good reason. It works," said Bryant Wilson, OHMA board member and CEO of On Hold Company explained. "The OHMA survey found that on hold marketing helps 47 percent of respondents sell big-ticket items that cost $500 or more. Those numbers add up quickly – particularly for small businesses."
The full "Does On Hold Messaging Really Work?" is available on the On Hold Company blog at http://www.onholdcompany.com/blog. It contains demographic data, lists the most common uses of on hold messaging, and highlights situations where companies see the most benefit. It also details the potential financial benefits of an on hold messaging strategy – particularly for businesses with a relatively high volume of calls.
"With 1,500 respondents, this is the largest OHMA study to date," Wilson explained. "The results show that on hold messaging is a useful communication and marketing tool for companies of all sizes." Wilson encouraged all companies to consider the long-term business benefits of on hold messaging. "If a caller hangs up while on hold, you’re not just losing a single sale. Statistics show, they may not call back again and that’s a significant loss.”
