Commercials On Hold was inundated with phone calls and emails the first week in January from medical and dental companies seeking information on their on hold provider, or to receive assistance in creating new on hold messages. Tel-a-Patient, a former on hold messaging company catering to the medical / dental community had closed its doors and operations as of December 31, 2011, leaving many clients with non-fulfilled contracts.
Allen Gaughf, President of Commercials On Hold (an immediate past Chairman of the Board for OHMA, the international On Hold Messaging Association – OHMA.org) stated that Tel-A-Patient clients started calling immediately after the January first holiday weekend wanting to know if Commercials On Hold could assist them with their productions. "We started getting calls January third and fourth from clients who had tried unsuccessfully to contact Tel-A-Patient by phone and website. It was strange, even the website had been closed down." Gaughf, whose company is celebrating their 30th anniversary in the on hold business, began working with several of the clients immediately and passed along possible solutions to others for consideration.
The closing, simply announced by email to clients and outsourced employees, came as a surprise to clients and employees, according to Meredyth McKenzie and Alice Allen, copywriters working for Tel-A-Patient.
McKenzie and Allen, conversing with their clients, started looking for a company that could fulfill their needs for customized productions. They researched on hold messaging companies and chose Commercials On Hold to recommend to their contacts. Gaughf, McKenzie and Allen reached an agreement for the former Tel-A-Patient clients to be offered service from Commercials On Hold. Gaughf went on to say, "We realized clients had paid for productions they probably would never receive, so we came up with the idea of offering a 50% credit to any former Tel-A-Patient client who had remaining productions due. Clients will simply need to show us their purchase along with payment confirmation, and we will offer them a 50% discount on any remaining productions they want fulfilled. This 50% discount on productions can be used for any amount of productions up to the total number due them from Tel-A-Patient." Gaughf said that TAP Clients who had received total fulfillment but wanted to order new productions would be able to receive up to a $175 promotional ‘Welcome To COH’ discount.
