America is in the grips of an unprecedented nursing shortage and nursing schools are offering unheard-of incentives to attract new students.
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) July 09, 2012
Accredited nursing programs are creating partnerships with hospitals and private organizations to attract top talent into nursing schools as the profession faces an unprecedented shortage.
Now, a leading health care education website, Medical Schools in USA, is connecting students with the top accredited nursing programs available both online and in person.
The need for qualified and talented nurses is only expected to expand even further, now that the Supreme Court has upheld the Affordable Care Act, which will provide an additional 32 million Americans with health care.
Exactly who is going to treat all those additional patients, as well as the booming population of senior citizens, remains a mystery. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, more hospitals, health care systems and other practice settings are being encouraged to partner with schools to offer students financial assistance. In return, the hospitals will be provided a steady influx of qualified graduates.
"The time has never been better for students interested in launching a nursing career," said Medical Schools in USA spokesperson Joe Connor. "Not only are more schools offering great incentives for students, but graduates have virtually endless opportunities to find a great paying job."
In a post-recession job environment, more people are thinking about breaking into a profession that isn't subject to the whims of the economy. Nursing offers job security, great pay, excellent benefits and personal fulfillment. Many mid-career professionals who found themselves out of work when the recession hit found the answer to their career woes through nursing school.
Online nursing programs are expanding to provide mid-level nurses with more opportunity for training and advancement. On traditional campuses, more schools are offering accredited nursing programs to prepare students for entry-level positions as licensed practical nurses or licensed vocational nurses.
