In the past decades, we’ve seen women continually succeed in taking on leadership roles, business ventures and high ranking corporate and political positions normally occupied by men. A true sign that women empowerment has become a remarkable revolution, especially in a male-dominated society such as the Philippines.

Multiply, the Philippines’ largest online shopping destination now with over 110,000 storefronts, takes pride in playing a role in this revolution by supporting female entrepreneurs: teaching them the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ in starting a business, and giving them the necessary tools to grow and sustain whatever business they put up.

To celebrate international women’s month, Multiply and Go Negosyo gave recognition to five outstanding female Multiply merchants in the recent Go Negosyo 4th Women Entrepreneurship Summit & Expo. The awardees, Anne Brigitte Santos-Baluyot, Bianca Donato, Jasmin Hong, Jocelyn Tuazon and Adeline Co’s success stories are testament of modern day women empowerment.

“Multiply empowers the passion of women entrepreneurs by giving them the necessary tools to start the business that they’ve always wanted to,” said Multiply Philippines Country Manager, Jack Madrid “We are especially proud of our female merchants who were recognized at the Go Negosyo 4th Women Entrepreneurship Summit & Expo and are considered some of the biggest names in Philippine entrepreneurship. We want the success stories of our merchants to carry through to other aspiring entrepreneurs to help them reach their goals.”

Find success in the things you love

Anne Brigitte Santos-Baluyot, the cosmetic maven behind Digital Traincase, turned her passion into a business when presented with the opportunity to retail more affordable alternatives for the makeup and nail polish brands she loves. Starting out by selling NYX cosmetics, make-up brushes, EOS lipbalms and high-end nail polishes at reasonable prices, Anne was able to create a name for herself in online shopping.

Now, Anne is one of Multiply’s most successful merchants, earning her the well-deserved Top Billing Multiply Merchant Award, all thanks to the site’s upgraded features.

“Choosing Multiply as the platform for Digital Traincase was one of best business decisions I’ve ever made. With just a starting capital of ten thousand pesos and some patience, I was able to put up and grow an enterprising business where I get to work with the things that I am passionate about,” Anne shared. “And although I can admit that building my brand was no walk in the park, everything was so much easier because I had all the help I needed from the friendly team of experts from Multiply who are always ready to ensure that my online shop is running optimally at all times.”

Mixing business with pleasure

Bianca Donato of The School of Satchel took home the Multiply Pinay Pride Award which recognized top selling home-grown brands that support Filipino craftsmanship.

Bianca discussed how Multiply enabled her to create and grow a brand that completely supports the country’s local industries. This is something she has always been passionate about and always wanted to promote globally. “While I was travelling in Europe, I frequently saw Philippine hand-crafted products, which were at par with a lot of the continent’s designer brands, and I thought to myself, ‘How can I further promote homegrown Filipino talent?’. After much planning and deliberation, I came up with The School of Satchel, which tries to bring Filipino craftsmanship to the global scene.”

Bianca also spoke of how setting up shop in Multiply not only enabled her to do something that she believes in, she also gets to spend more time with her family and friends. “Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see women succeed and prosper in industries that are normally dominated by men. But there comes a time when some of these women choose to stop working and instead, devote their time on their families and friends. On Multiply, I have the best of both worlds; I get to stay on top of all my business needs with the multitude of features now available on the site and still have time leftover to spend with my family and friends.”

Of bigger things to come

The Multiply Rookie of the Year Award recognized the fastest growing merchant of Multiply and this award was given to Jasmin Hong, Jocelyn Tuazon and Adeline Co of Little Emily Shop.

Just around four months ago, Jasmin Hong, Jocelyn Tuazon and Adeline Co started Little Emily Shop on Multiply, a shop that offers all-you-can-find items from stationary, to organizers to personal care items. This one-of-a-kind approach to e-commerce has helped the three women find success early on.

“When we set-up our business on Multiply, it really was with the intention of growing our on- ground business. And although we did expect some sort growth to come from our Multiply store, we never imagined it would be this big of a growth. On top of the foot traffic we get from our physical store in Divisoria, we now have access to over 6 million potential customers because of Multiply. It truly is a blessing from God,” shared Jasmin, Jocely and Adeline. “With the recent developments, we’re looking at the future of our business more optimistically.”

Aside from the successful women merchants of Multiply, the summit also honored some of the most notable women entrepreneurs in the country for their success and dedication towards building their business. Power women such as Pastry Bin owner Penk Ching, Cravings Group and Center for Culinary Arts-Manila president Susana Guerrero, Cabalen president Maritel Nievera, Publishing Group founder and CEO Sari Yap, and Forever Flawless Face and Body Center CEO Rubby Sy among many others were recognized for their incredible business stories which helped inspired other women in fulfilling their dreams and finding success.

Anne, Bianca, Jasmin, Jocelyn and Adeline are only some of the many entrepreneurs who have found success on Multiply. And every day, more and more people add to the growing number of successful Multiply sellers. As a matter of fact, Multiply is now the largest online shopping site in Southeast Asia.
