This knowledge will aid customers in performing the traditional aspects of their job as CPAs as well as allow them to be informed business advisors for their clients or the larger corporation they work for

With changes in the industry affecting required certification, Professional Education Services (PES) this month introduced multiple new continuing education courses for CPAs in the United States.
The new CPE courses are on current and pressing topics, including IFRS and the tax implications of the recent federal health care bill. These courses ensure that customers of PES are always up-to-date on the latest developments affecting their industry.
“This knowledge will aid customers in performing the traditional aspects of their job as CPAs as well as allow them to be informed business advisors for their clients or the larger corporation they work for,” said Kathy Yates, executive vice president of PES. “The courses are all written by experts in the field and contain valuable insight into the issues addressed.”
The Federal Health Care course authored by Renee C. Nash examines the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as it relates to taxes, employer obligations and other financial aspects for individuals and employers. The Act is one of the most sweeping pieces of legislation ever and CPAs need to be informed on the financial effects this will have for both businesses and individuals.
The company’s new IFRS CPE course provides CPAs with knowledge on the International Financial Reporting Standards used by most of the developed world outside the United States and includes detailed discussions on how IFRS will affect U.S. businesses.
In addition to these courses on new topics, PES has also introduced the newest versions of its courses on CPA ethics. Earlier this year, PES released the 2010 editions for North Carolina and Virginia ethics, but has just added updates for New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Kentucky and West Virginia. PES now also offers four different California ethics courses, allowing California CPAs to take the appropriate ethics course during the complex transition process for CPE for CPAs in that state.
