Reaching out through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and more, the online degree search company gives students helpful tools and links for their education.

Draper, UT (Vocus) September 20, 2010 -- Online education is quickly becoming more mainstream, as it offers flexibility for many working individuals and nontraditional students. To help students avoid common pitfalls and encourage success in education, DegreeSearch.org, an online education search company, has recently expanded into the social media sphere with new Twitter and Facebook pages.

“We’ve been focusing a lot more on the needs of the students who come to our site, and we have many great articles and helpful tools that we want to put in their hands,” said Chandler Horsley, president of DegreeSearch.org. “We started with our blog, and we’ve been writing articles to help students understand what is involved in going back to college.”

For individuals interested in online degree programs, the search company regularly updates its Facebook fan page.

“We’ve found that our Facebook page is great for reaching out to a wide audience,” said Horsley. “Our Twitter account is now up and running and it keeps people up to date on our blog posts, education news and links to specific tools that will help students.”

The company has added support features to its site, allowing visitors to ask questions and speak with a live support agent. With financial aid calculators, site surveys, scholarship search tools and school comparison tools in the works, the search company hopes to reach engage students on a whole new level. These new features, combined with the aggressive approach to social media with its Twitter and Facebook pages, should allow the company to reach students who are interested in more information.

“We're very excited to be connecting with our users in a way we've never done before. Hopefully their feedback and participation will help us build the best education site out there,” said Horsley. “As a company, we have all the experience and resources to help online students, so now we’re trying to get the word out.”
