I would love to do another event with Daniel. I enjoyed the two days immensely.

The idea seemed so unreal to him - even after outlasting the entire field in a co-sponsored freeroll from PokerListings.com and PokerStars - that PokerListings player Dennis A. didn't even suspect he'd won an exclusive, $15,000 all-expenses-paid weekend in Las Vegas with PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu.
But when the truth finally sunk in - and after an e-mail to customer support just to be sure - he happily collected his prize and went on to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime weekend with Kid Poker and a small crew of fellow poker fans.
"I thought that I was entering a satellite to get into a tournament for the weekend," said Dennis, a retiree from California who qualified for the freeroll simply by virtue of opening up a PokerStars account through a PokerListings link and then earning just 100 FPPs in June.
"So when I won, I started looking around PokerStars trying to find the next tournament, and the only thing I could find was a listing for Aug. 8. And I thought, wait a minute - that's when the weekend is!"
Dennis sent customer support an e-mail that night, and when he woke up he had an equally unbelievable reply waiting for him - confirming he had indeed won the exclusive $15k package.
"I read it, and read it again, and called my wife in to read it, just to make sure I hadn't read it wrong," said Dennis. "I was walking around all that Sunday with an open mouth. I was quite happy."
All that was left at that point was for Dennis to kick back and enjoy the weekend, which took place in early August and included a welcome dinner at Negreanu's house, two days of seminars and live workshops with one-on-one instruction from Kid Poker himself, plus a VIP night on the town.
"Daniel Negreanu is one of the preeminent poker players in the world today," says Hannah Mayen, media relations director at PokerListings.com, "and, away from the tables, one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet."
"Opportunities like this just don't come around that often, and we couldn't be happier one of our players had a chance to experience it - and even better, we got to surprise him with it unintentionally!"
"We're thrilled Dennis had a memorable experience, and would like to thank both PokerStars and Daniel for putting together such an incredible package one of our players could share in."
To top everything off, when Dennis and the rest of the students faced off at the end of the weekend in a private tournament with a seat in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure on the line, Dennis finished second - coming up just short of the tournament entry but still winning a Cartier watch valued at $4,000.
"I'm a 'speak it as I see it' kind of person, so I'm not telling you anything I didn't tell Daniel - he's a class act," said Dennis. "He was most gracious to everybody - he's just a fun guy to be around."
"I would love to do another event with Daniel. I enjoyed the two days immensely."
