We've invested an incredible amount of time and effort over the last year perfecting our MarketPulse data gathering
Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles (PRWEB) October 2, 2008
The re-birth of high-stakes online No-Limit Hold'em. Major traffic increases across the board. Two near-$1-million days (one up, one down) for Tom "durrrr" Dwan. All big news in online poker this month. But all upstaged by a bigger story: After 11 years without a pot over $600,000, online poker steamrolled into the future this September with not one, but two $600,000+ pots changing hands -- including, of course, the biggest pot ever won online.
Tracking and analyzing over 20 million online poker hands each month, PokerListings.com's MarketPulse section is the most comprehensive statistical overview of the industry on the Web, and the action tracked this month was truly record-breaking in more ways than one.
"We've invested an incredible amount of time and effort over the last year perfecting our MarketPulse data gathering," says Hannah Mayen, media relations director for PokerListings.com, "and the recording of the most lucrative month in online poker history is the big payoff.
"The action this month was truly remarkable - from a pure dollar-value perspective, from an industry perspective and from a fan's perspective. It was also incredibly fun to watch it materialize every day, and see just how big it was going to get."
Even more surprising a story perhaps? The winning player and the winning hand in the now-biggest-ever pot. Not poker icons Phil Ivey or Patrik Antonius. Not even one of the fearless young guns of poker like durrrr or Hac "trex313" Dang. No, the proud owner of the biggest pot in online poker history is now reputed online "fish" patatino, who somehow managed to scoop the honors and the cash with nothing more than a pair of deuces. The full story can be read here.
To fully cement the record-breaking month, after the 11-year wait it was just 11 hours later online poker saw its second-biggest pot ever, and another topping the $600,000 mark. The beneficiary this time: renowned Full Tilt Poker pro David Benyamine. Story here.

Top Online Moneymakers/Losses:
With the surge in super-high-stakes action this month - spurred by the pull of the new marquee $500/$1,000 No-Limit Hold'em "RailHeaven" table at Full Tilt Poker - it's only natural the overall profit numbers for the game's best also soared this month.
Leading the charge was the aforementioned Benyamine, who has been running white-hot lately and used his $600k pot to slingshot himself to almost $1 million in Hold'em profit last month, according to stats tracked until Sept. 29.
Following closely behind were renowned online pros Hac "trex313" Dang and Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, who both raked in over $900k in online Hold'em profit last month. A good month all around for the Dang brothers actually, as Hac's brother Di "Urindanger" Dang also made the top 10 Hold'em Moneymakers list, raking in $300,000 of his own.
