As the world’s largest Christian university, Liberty University has the notable challenge of trying to bring together its more than 70,000 online and on-campus students into a unified college community. To meet this need, the university has created a variety of online outlets to give students an opportunity to interact, ask questions and connect with Liberty no matter where they live.
Liberty has a strong social media presence with Twitter accounts, a YouTube channel and several official Facebook pages, including one created especially for students enrolled with the online Christian college option, Liberty Online. The university uses these channels to communicate events and announcements, and students use them to receive updates and get in touch with other Liberty students.
Liberty University also operates a variety of other websites in order to give both residential and online university students access to all of the university’s resources. With these online outlets, Liberty gives students who live across the country and around the globe a chance to experience all that Liberty has to offer.
Liberty’s Online Ministries website, for example, gives students the chance to connect with Liberty’s Christ-centered community and gain access to spiritual resources. Another popular online portal for students is the Liberty Flames website, which offers live audio and video of many of the university’s sports games.
As the university, and especially its accredited online university program, continues to grow, the need to connect students with students in wide-spread locations will become increasingly important. Liberty has shown fellow far that it is up to the challenge.
