Vancouver, BC (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 9, 2009 -- Clearly Contacts, the world's largest online optical store, is pleased to announce the expansion of their Healthy Balance Program for the 140 employees in their Vancouver based offices. The program will enhance the positive workplace environment that Clearly Contacts works hard at maintaining, and benefit employees in a very positive way.
 "Health is so important, and it is easy to ignore your health when you are working in a fast paced, growing company. We want to ensure that our employees are taking care of themselves, and want to help them in anyway we can." stated Edith Crespin, Human Resources Generalist for Clearly Contacts.
The program focuses on 3 main areas of well being: physical, mental and emotional, and is aimed at helping to reduce stress level and increase general health. A wide selection of healthy lunches have been added to the employee lunch room and are available to all employees for a nominal fee, the balance of which is subsidized by Clearly Contacts. In this way the Company hopes that each and every employee who takes advantage of this aspect of the program will be eating a healthy, balanced meal while at work.
"We are encouraging the ongoing health of our employees and feel it adds to the overall work experience." adds Crespin. "We feel that our employees are like our family here at Clearly Contacts and to that end we want all of them feeling good, having positive attitudes and working at peak potential throughout the day."
In addition to the healthy lunch program, the company has instituted fully funded sports and exercise activities again for all employees, as well as subsidized gym memberships, intramural lunch-time teams, and nutritional lunch and learns, as a few of the healthy balance initiatives.
"We feel that exercise is one of the essential elements to maintaining good health and positive work habits for our employees. Too often we tend to sit at our desks while we work and by the end of the day we're simply too tired to properly exercise." says Crespin.
A healthy diet and exercise are certainly key elements for a positive outlook on life as well as a more compassionate attitude. Clearly Contacts has found that allowing employees to engage in healthy activities during the day has also reduced the amount of sick days taken by employees over the past two years.
